THE SEED
Luke 8:11  Jesus said, “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”
In Creation:
Genesis 1:11-12
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Luke 17:6Amp
And the Lord answered, If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even [so small] like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.

Luke 13:18-19Amp
This led Him to say, What is the kingdom of God like?  And to what shall I compare it?
It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his own garden, and the wild birds found shelter and roosted and nested in its branches.

2 Corinthian 9:10
And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity].

ILLUSTRATION of the Growing Seed  Mark 4:26-30Amp
And He said, The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed upon the ground.
And then continues sleeping and rising night and day while the seed spouts and grows and increases-he knows not how.
The earth produces [acting] by itself-first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
But when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately he sends forth [the reapers] and puts in the sickle, because the harvest stands ready.
And He said, With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use to illustrate and explain it?
Meyer note:  The patient farmer:  The farmer sows his seed in the ground and then goes on his way, sleeping and rising.  Eventually, the ground brings forth its yield on its own.  The farmer does not know how the harvest will come or exactly when it will come, but his job is to get up in the morning, do his work, and go to bed at night.  He keeps up his patient vigil over the seed he has sown until he receives the harvest.  Jesus was telling us this is the way we should respond to God…A farmer never knows exactly when his crop will come in.  He just keeps sleeping and rising, does what he can to enrich his soil and cultivate his crops, but leaves the rest in the hands of the Creator.  Let me encourage you to do likewise.

STORY of the Farmer Scattering Seed  Luke 8:4-11Amp
And when a very great throng was gathering together and people from town after town kept coming to Jesus, He said in a parable:
A sower went out to sow seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the traveled path and was trodden underfoot, and the birds of the air ate it up.
And some [seed] fell on the rock, and as soon as it sprouted, it withered away because it had no moisture.
And other [seed] fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it [off].
And some seed fell into good soil, and grew up and yielded a crop a hundred times [as great].  As He said these things, He called out, He who has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him consider and understand by hearing!
And when His disciples asked Him the meaning of this parable,
He said to them, To you it has been given to [come progressively to] know (to recognize and understand more strongly and clearly) the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that [though] looking, they may not see; and hearing, they may not comprehend.
Now the meaning of the parable is this:  The seed is the Word of God
