Among Word of Faith people, there have been incorrect assumptions and presumptions, and the idea has been left, that if you will just put enough money in the offering and sow enough seeds, and make enough confessions, you will prosper.
That is not the whole story. That is only part of the story, There is a widely held presumption, the general concession is, that if you sow seeds, make your confessions, the rest is up to God. That’s all there is to it! That is not true! You don’t have to look far to know that. The people around you are sowing, and sowing, and sowing. Confessing, and confessing, and confessing. But they are behind on paying their bills. Not just for a few days, but week after week, year after year and they are still in debt. Something is not right! Does the Word work or not? So, if we are not seeing results, it is not God’s fault, and it is not a problem with the Word. It is a problem with our understanding, or our doing. It is a lack of understanding the Word of God or our not doing the right thing. All we have heard has been sow more offerings, give more and make confessions. This is a very important question. Is REAPING automatic? Is HARVESTING automatic? That is, if you sow and make confessions you will reap? I ask again, Is reaping automatic? Is it true in the natural? Well, is it? What do you think? According to Proverbs 10, you can sleep right through harvest time. Can you? Is it possible that people could plant crops and God rain on them, have perfect conditions, and have 30, 60, 100-fold crop hanging on the stalk, or on the plants? Will the harvest come off the vine or off the stalk and go to the barn by itself? No! That never happens. If somebody doesn’t take it off and receive it in, it will not be harvested. In fact, whole harvests have been lost because of the failure of somebody taking the responsibility to go out and take it in. Is it work to get it in? Yes, harvest time is hard work. It’s one of the busiest times of the year. When it’s time to harvest, it’s time! You have a window of time to harvest! It’s not time for a nap! Let’s read Proverbs 10:4-5 again. He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. What happens when you’re slack? That’s how you become poor. But if you are diligent, that makes you rich. Verse 5, He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. These verses are talking about the same thing. Harvesting is an opportunity that is available to us. We’ve got a lot of church going, offering giving, confessing people that are ignoring this whole side of harvesting. All they know to do is give another offering and make more confessions, month after month, year after year. They are not harvesting but they should be harvesting. They are not experiencing the miraculous provision that they should be experiencing. Why? Because they are waiting for God to harvest it for them. They believe it is not their responsibility, but it is God’s job to get it to them and it is all automatic. No farmer believes that. Everybody knows, whether it is wheat, or fruit, or whatever is planted, you don’t wait for God to pick it or start the tractor for you. Do you want to know what you have been doing wrong? When? Now! A well-known pastor said, THE MORE YOU LEARN THE MORE YOU SEE HOW LITTLE YOU KNOW!
